The PAMM manager checklist.
Use these questions before you allocate. If an answer is unclear or unwritten, treat that as information too.
Five questions before you allocate
- Who is the legal provider?
- What independently verifiable permissions apply?
- Where and how are funds held?
- How are fees calculated?
- What happens when you ask to withdraw during a losing or illiquid period?
The manager
- How long is the verifiable track record, and on what account size?
- What is the worst historical drawdown and how long did recovery take?
- What leverage and position sizing are typical?
- Has the strategy changed? Is there a written mandate?
- Does the manager have their own capital in the strategy?
Fees and statements
- Performance fee, high-water mark and calculation period
- Spread, commission, swap, deposit, withdrawal and inactivity charges
- How often you receive statements and whether they show fees separately
Exit
- Dealing windows and notice periods
- Treatment of open positions on withdrawal
- Processing times and methods
- Account security and verification steps
